Obituary

George W. Kinney, Sr. of 2634 Mercer-West Middlesex Rd. West Middlesex, PA, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 in Weirton Geriatric Center, Weirton, WV. He was 75.

Mr. Kinney was born in Bradford, PA on May 16, 1934, a son Richard Irvin and Eva Jayne Digel Kinney.

He attended Bradford Schools and received his GED while proudly serving in the United States Navy. In the navy he was a machinist mate 1st Class. George served aboard the USS Ticonderoga, USS Kula Gulf, and USS Antietam.

George retired as a truck driver with Rollins Transportation. Previously he was employed at Case Cutlery Corporation, Owens Illinois, City Creamery, and McClean Trucking.

Mr. Kinney was of Protestant faith. He found enjoyment in hunting, boating, truck driving, and his many dogs. Most of all, George loved his children and grandchildren, spending memorable moments watching them be involved in playing softball, gymnastics, school plays, and motocross races.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Juanita Mae Colley Kinney; 4 children, Lynne A. and her husband Jeff Srnec of Sun Prairie, WI, Dale E. and his wife Joyce of Minnetonka, MN, George W. Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Kinney of Fredonia, PA, and Jeanne A. and her husband William Ross, Jr. of Hookstown, PA; 2 brothers, Bruce M. Kinney of Bradford, PA and David W. Kinney of Franklinville, NY; 10 grandchildren, Kathryn Zeier, David Srnec, James Srnec, Jason Kinney, Angela Connally, Ben Kinney, Brian Kinney, Amanda Kinney, William Ross, Devin Ross; 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by, a daughter, Leanne Marie Kinney; 2 brothers, Richard D. Kinney, Donald R. Kinney.

Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Phillip Beck, pastor of the Central Community Church.

Internment will be in Haywood Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Shenango Valley Humane Society, 2599 Broadway Rd. West Middlesex, PA 16159.
