Obituary

George J. Kahl, 1915 Carolyn St., Farrell, passed away peacefully at 4:30 p.m.on Thursday (11-11-10) at his residence with his family at his side. He was 65.

Mr. Kahl was born March 24, 1945 in Sharon, the son of George Ferdinand and Leonilda Felicia (Zappa) Kahl. He was a 1963 graduate of Farrell High School, and later graduated with high honors from ITT Technical School, Youngstown, where he studied Electronic Repair.

On April 25, 1970, he married Kathleen Ann Juniak of Natrona Heights, PA. This past year they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at the Outer Banks with family and friends.

George retired in 1992 after 29 years in the Chemistry Lab at the former Sharon Steel Corporation. For the last 15 years, he worked at the Wal-Mart Photo Center in Hermitage where he liked to be known as 'George, from one-hour photo'.

Mr. Kahl was a faithful member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Sharon. An avid golfer, he played for many years with his buddies from Sharon Steel at Birchwood Golf Course, and also played in the VFW League. George enjoyed bowling, photography, computers, and traveling to Myrtle Beach and the Outer Banks. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; a daughter, Laura L. Kahl at home; two sons, Jeffrey M. Kahl and his wife Cherith of Lowell, MI, and Gregory L. Kahl and his wife Jennifer of Mansfield, OH; a brother, Robert B. Kahl and his wife Penny of Burghill, Ohio; two grandchildren, Sunshine A. Nefores and Rory J. Kahl; and three nieces, Jennifer Kahl Beachy, Amy Kahl Clark, and Katharine Kahl Klinger.

George is preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.

Funeral Service: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday (11-15-10) at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, with Rev. Daniel J. Kresinski, pastor as the celebrant.
