Obituary

George Bock of Masury passed away peacefully at 5:15 pm. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 , in O'Brien Memorial Health Care Center. He was 85.

Mr. Bock was born May 2, 1932 , in Yugoslavia, a son of Stefan and Anna (Mireiter) Bock.

George retired as a millwright in 1991 from Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant, where he was employed for 40 years. He also worked part time as plumber and tool and dial maker for many years.

George was an active member of St. Anthony Church, Sharon, where he was involved in many church projects and events, especially at the Lenten fish fries volunteering as a cook for more than 30 years.

He was a lifelong member of the Apollo Maennerchor Club, Sharon.

An outdoorsman, George was a talented hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed spending time working in his vegetable garden, and was an avid winemaker and woodworker.  George was a wonderful husband and father who loved spending time with family.

Surviving are: his wife of 62 years, the former Magdalena Gross, whom he married April 23, 1955 ; a daughter, Christine (Joseph) Hunt, Altavista, VA; four sons, John (Marcia) Bock, Mill Spring, N.C.; Rudy Bock, San Francisco, CA; David (Bonnie) Bock, Masury; and George (Monica) Bock, Jr., Cary, N.C.; a sister, Helen Schnable, Austria; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Baur, Hermitage; a brother, Stefan Bock, Masury; four grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Bock; and a brother, John Bock and his wife, Helen.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Chapel Fund, c/o St. Anthony Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146 .

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday (11-21-17) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 State St., Sharon.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (11-22-17) in St. Anthony Church, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
