Obituary

George C. Allen formerly of 1020 Biscayne Dr. Hermitage, PA passed away peacefully Sunday, January 3, 2010 in Redlands, CA. He was 93.

Mr. Allen was born in Sharon, PA August 20, 1916. He was the only child of Albert and Norma (Barber) Allen.

He graduated from Sharon High in 1934 and Youngstown College in1943.

Mr. Allen retired from Westinghouse after 42 years of service.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a 50 year member of the Masonic F&AM Lodge #250 in Sharon. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6166, Hermitage. A volunteer, he enjoyed giving his time to the Meals on Wheels program in Sharon.

He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the Navy minesweeping forces.

Surviving are his daughter Kathleen Weller and her husband Richard Weller of Redlands, CA with whom he made his home, two grandsons R. Mark Weller of Chico, CA and Robert Allen Weller of Portland, OR, one great grandson Elijah Weller and one great-granddaughter Georgia Beth Weller both of Chico, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen (Glover) Allen and his son Charles B. Allen.

The family requested condolences cards only.

Calling hours: 6 p.m. until time of service on Monday (1-11-10) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Services: 8 p.m. on Monday (1-11-10) in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Glenn Hink, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon.
