Genevieve B. Wiech, 81, of New Castle, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 5:35 pm in her residence. Genevieve was born on April 26, 1934 in Poland, a daughter of Louis and Mary Wojtowicz Magusiak. She was a member of the former Madonna Church, and of Mary Mother of Hope Parish. On May 3, 1952 she married the late Sylvester Wiech, who passed away in November 1995. She was a member of the Casimir Pulaski Auxiliary, and the Ladies Guild/Christian Mothers at both Madonna and Mary Mother of Hope. Genevieve loved her church, as well as flowers, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and cooking. Above all she loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughter, Nancy (Avery) Brooksher, Lugoff S.C.; two sons, David Wiech, and James (Lori) Wiech, both of New Castle; three sisters, Helen Szewczyk, New Castle, Jane Misuida, Aliquippa, and Josephine Sedwick, New Castle; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Jacob Brooksher, and Tiffany Surratt, Steven, Samantha, Bucky, and Beau Wiech; and five great-grandchildren, Brianna and Mikayla Price, and Taya, Sutton, and Caden Brooksher. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother Frank Magusiak. Calling hours will be Monday, May 25, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm 2015, and also Tuesday, 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 11:00 am in Mary Mother of Hope Parish, with Rev. William Siple officiating. Interment will take place in Madonna Cemetery, Union Township.
