Coach Gary L. Wilson departed from this life on Monday, January 25, 2021, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 64.
Gary was born April 7, 1956, in Sharon, a son of Surender and Joyce (Roseboro) Wilson. He was a 1974 graduate of Farrell High School and attended Penn State Shenango Campus in downtown Sharon.
He was employed at Sears in the Shenango Valley Mall, Reyers Shoe Store, Sharon and Sharon Tube, Farrell.
Gary was a former boys' basketball coach at Kennedy Christian High School. He also coached at many other schools in the Shenango Valley and left a great legacy with all the kids he coached.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, the former Claudette Bryant, whom he married January 24, 1975; his parents, of Farrell; two sons, Gary L. Wilson, II, of Hermitage, and David A. Wilson, of Sharon; two daughters, Colleen M. Wilson and Kelly L. Wilson, both of Farrell; two sisters, Celeste M. Wilson, of Farrell, and Alyssa Harris, of Maryland; two uncles, William Roseboro and his wife Anna, of Grand Rapids, MI, and Walter Phillips, of Bugler, PA; fourteen grandchildren; one great grandson; and a host of relatives and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his son, Mark A. Wilson, on December 25, 2014; his grandparents, Cap S. and Claudia Godgrey Wilson and Connor and Altha Callahan Jennings; two aunts, Niichola Jennings Phillips and Gussie Wilson Henderson; an uncle, Joseph Wilson; and a cousin, Danielle Lincoln; and many other relatives.
Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday (01/30/2021) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
Funeral Service will be private.
Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
