Obituary

Gary L. Babcock, of Hubbard, formerly Greenville, passed away Tuesday evening, January 29, 2019, in Windsor House at Liberty Health Care Center, Youngstown. He was 68.

Mr. Babcock was born July 30, 1950, in Greenville, a son of the late Ward and Ethel (Gessler) Babcock. He was a 1969 graduate of Brookfield High School.

Gary retired from Exal Corp., Youngstown. He previously worked as a cook at Denny's, Hermitage, where he found his true passion in being a chef. This is also where he met his late wife, Bonnie, whom he loved and admired.

He attended church at the First Assembly of God church, Hermitage, for many years.

Gary loved to do odd jobs around the house, which included handyman work and home decorating. His signature was hanging one piece of wallpaper upside down whenever he had the chance

He is survived by twin step daughters, Stacey Gibbs and her spouse Molly McKinley, of Raleigh, NC; and Tammy Roupe and her husband Ralph, of Girard, OH; a step son, John Gibbs and his wife Blanca, of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Diane Foy and her husband Ken, Greenville; three brothers, Glenn Babcock and his wife Lisa, Hermitage, Daryl Babcock, Sr. and his fiancé Rachelle Parker, Champion, OH, and Ward A. Babcock and his wife Tina, Seattle, WA; one aunt, Lois Metzger, Greenville; a special nephew, Daryl Babcock, Jr.; ten grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gary was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Marie Babcock, and a brother, Richard Potase.

Calling hours will be 2 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday (2/3/2019) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday (2/3/2019) in the funeral home, with Rev. Sheri Urey, officiating.

Interment: America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
