Frederick R. Haines, Sr., 90, of Sharpsville, passed away Tuesday morning, February 24, 2026, in Magnolia Place, Saxonburg, PA.
Mr. Haines was born on July 31, 1935, in Farrell, a son of the late Robert and Mary Agnes (Wigan) Haines.
Fred worked for many years as a press operator at the former Packard Electric Corporation, Warren, OH. He eventually retired from U.S. Can Corporation, where he was a storeroom manager. Throughout his career, he also worked part-time as a mechanic at the former Sears Automotive next to the former Shenango Valley Mall.
Earlier in life, he enjoyed camping trips with his family and friends and always stayed busy with home renovation projects. He also enjoyed watching classic western movies.
His wife of 62 years, the former Bonnie Lou Cummings, whom he married on February 19, 1955, passed away on February 27, 2017. For many years, Fred was her dedicated caretaker.
He is survived by a grandson, Michael Haines and his wife, Nicole, of Sarver, PA; and a great-grandson, Oliver Haines. He also leaves his sister, Dolores E. Hornak; and his sister-in-law, Rose Marie Haines; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and their children.
In addition to his wife and parents, Fred was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue Lelo; a son, Frederick Haines, Jr. and his wife, Linda; two infant sons; a sister, Patricia Perine; and four brothers, Robert A., Thomas E., Raymond K. and William W. Haines.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
A private graveside service will be held.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
