Frederick T. "Fred" Griffith, 78, of Hermitage, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell.

Mr. Griffith was born on June 22, 1945, in Sharon, a son of the late Edwin and Dorothy (Dach) Griffith. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1963 graduate of Hickory High School. Fred honorably served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

He spent his working career in the newspaper industry. He began working for the Sharon Herald before transferring to the Record Argus. He ultimately retired as a printer and pressman for the Wall Street Journal, West Middlesex plant.

Fred's life revolved around his family. He cherished time spent with all of them, especially his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife, the former Gerry Hart, whom he married on November 14, 1970; three sons, Gary Griffith, Mark Griffith and his wife Heidi, and Todd Griffith, all of Hermitage; his two very special granddaughters, Paige and Dalaney; a sister, Dorothy Gerdy and her husband Larry, Hermitage; and a brother, Edwin "Ted" Griffith, Florida.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Griffith.
