Fred A. Paoletta, 1070 Armand Ave., Hermitage, passed away peacefully Wednesday (1-8-09) at 4:08 p.m. in Orange Village Care Center, Masury, Ohio, following an extended illness. He was 79.
He was born March 30, 1929 in Sharon, the daughter of Michael and Mary Conti Paoletta.
A lifelong area resident, he attended Sharon Schools.
Mr. Paoletta was employed by the former Sharon Steel Corporations Farrell plant where he had been a foreman and overseer of the shipping department; he retired in 1992 with 47 years of service.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.
Fred was an avid bowler and he also enjoyed hunting, working crossword puzzles, and recording his favorite movies.
His wife the former Theresa Paglia whom he married on September 25, 1948, survives at home.
He also leaves his daughter Diane M. Laudo, Liberty Township, Oh, and his son, Larry A. Paoletta and his wife Kerry, South Pymatuning Twp., two sisters Angeline Triggiani , Sharon, and Lucy A. Flood, Farrell, three brothers, Anthony Paoletta and his wife Edna, Mercer, Phillip Paoletta, Hermitage, and Louis Paoletta, Niles, Ohio; four grandchildren, Michele Hawn and her husband Keith, Monica Blews and her husband Scott, and Jamie and Kylie Paoletta, two great grandchildren, Carly and Evan Hawn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Marco and Frank Paoletta, a sister, Rose Magnu, and a son in law John N. Laudo.
Calling hours: 5 to 8: p.m. Friday (1-9-09) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon. A rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home Friday.
Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (1-10-09) in Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Donald E. Berdis pastor as celebrant. A brief prayer service will take place in the funeral home at 9:15 prior to leaving for the church.
Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
