Obituary

Fred A. Bencivengo, 7221 Northview Dr., Brookfield, Ohio passed away at 12:40 p.m. Monday (5-31-10) in Clarebridge Assisted Living of Austintown (Ohio) after an extended illness. He was 83.

Mr. Bencivengo was born November 20, 1927 in Masury, Ohio a son of Vincenzo and Lucy Fortine Bencivengo.

He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Farrell High School.

During high school he was a standout wrestler and won the state championship in the135 pound weight class his senior year.

Fred retired from Delphi-Packard Electric Corp., Warren, Ohio on September 1, 1997 after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon. Fred's hobbies included golfing and tennis.

A devoted husband and father, he is survived by: his loving wife, the former Mary Lombardi, whom he married June 6, 1967; two sons, Fred A. Bencivengo and his wife Sandy, Warren, Ohio; and David M. Bencivengo and his wife Teresa, Canfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Isabella, David and Vincent Bencivengo; three sisters, Mary Lanciotti and her husband Michael; and Carmel Longiotti and her husband Pete, all Greenville, PA; and Rosalie Shedd and her husband George, Hubbard, Ohio; two brothers, Joseph Bencivengo and his wife Vickie, Huron, Ohio; and James Bencivengo and his wife Noboko, Henderson, Nevada; a sister-in-law, Chris Bencivengo, Niles, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and Raymond Bencivengo.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday (6-3-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday (6-4-10) in St. Joseph Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor as celebrant.
