Fred Abbott, 68, of South Pymatuning Twp. passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, October 31, 2018.

Mr. Abbott was born May 20, 1950, in Sharon, a son of Fred E. and Vera (McMath) Abbott. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1968 graduate of Sharpsville High School. Following high school, Fred owned and operated the former West Side Café, S. Pym. He later retired from Wheatland Tube where he was employed in the galvanizing department for more than 25 years.

Fred was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Sharpsville. He was also a member of the VFW Post #6404; and the American Legion Post #162, both of Sharpsville. Fred enjoyed playing cards and taking trips to the casino with his wife, Joan.

He is survived by his wife, the former Joan Parsons, whom he married on March 27, 1976; his mother, Vera Herrmann, S. Pym.; two sons, Matthew Abbott and his wife Carolynn, Cranberry, PA, and Michael Abbott, Clark; three grandchildren, Everleigh, Max and Kate Abbott; a sister, Deb Moore; two brothers, Ron Abbott and his wife Heather, and Roger Herrmann and his wife Janet, all of S. Pym.; a step-sister, Sherry Weiser, West Middlesex; and a step-brother, Chuck Herrmann.

Fred was preceded by his father; his step-father, Walter Herrmann; and a step-brother, Keith Herrmann.

All services are private.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery Columbarium, Hermitage.
