Frank J. Petrello, Sr., 71, of New Castle passed away Monday evening, December 28, 2020, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, as a result of complications from the COVID-19 virus.
Mr. Petrello was born March 29, 1949, in New Castle, a son of John F. and Rose (Startari) Petrello. A 1967 graduate of Union High School, he honorably served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.
His wife of 52 years, the former Susan Egbert, whom he married September 7, 1968, survives at home.
Frank retired from Fleming Steel, New Castle, several times, with the final retirement being in 2014. Previously, he worked as a machinist at Pro-Mac Machine, also in New Castle, for more than 30 years.
Frank was a member of the KP Club, New Castle, and also enjoyed playing golf in several leagues over the years. He had a talent for woodworking, and always looked forward to vacations with his wife and family.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by a daughter, Jaclyn Petrello, of Grand Junction, CO; a son, Frank Petrello, Jr., of South Park, PA; two sisters, Angela (Nick) Mehalic, and Mary Ann Buckley, both of New Castle; two brothers, John (Marge) Petrello, of Arizona; and Joseph (Esther) Petrello, of Mahoningtown; and two grandchildren, Melia Petrello and Dylan Blair.
Due to concerns presented by the Covid-19 virus, a private graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
