Frank A. Gabriel, 1221 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday (12-22-10) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after complications from a heart attack a week earlier. He was 70.
Mr. Gabriel was born April 15, 1940 in the former Buhl Hospital, Sharon, the oldest son of the late August and Adeline Fortine Gabriel.
He was a lifelong Farrell resident and a 1958 graduate of Farrell High School.
Following high school, Frank served with the US Army as a radio operator in South Korea. He was honorably discharged and, upon his return to Farrell, became employed by the Shenango Valley Water Company (now Aqua PA) for 38 years. Frank began his career with the water company in 1963 in the construction department and retired in 2002 from its service department.
He was a member and past president of the Utility Workers Local # 285. Frank continued to keep busy after he retired by volunteering at his church and working part time at Gibbs Flower Shoppe in Farrell. He was a lifelong active member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell where he was president of church council for seven years. He was also a member of the churches Holy Name Society, the Bethany Club, the picnic committee; was the Sunday night caller for church bingo in Fatima Hall for more than 20 years; and was a volunteer worker at the Night at the Races. Frank was also an active member of the Italian Home in Farrell where he and his wife cooked for a couple of years. He continued his support of the club by cooking delicious sausage and peppers each week for the Saturday morning gentleman's breakfast. ng at Geneva-On-The-Lake and many trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Although Frank and his wife were never blessed with children, they have many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews whom they adore.
Surviving is his wife, the former Quoilla J. Mason, his childhood sweetheart, whom he married October 19, 1963 in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, by the late, Rev. Louis J. Heberlein; a sister, Louisa Loop, Hermitage; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews and their families; and many friends.
Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Gabriel; and two sisters, Mary Cirelli and Carmella Weidner.

Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honor's rendered by the Farrell VFW Post # 5286 Honor Guard.
