Frank Duby of 255 Hamilton Ave., Farrell, PA entered into eternal life at home on May 18, 2009 at 9:15 p.m. after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 79.
Mr. Duby was born in Farrell, PA on June 22, 1929, a son of Samuel and Anna (Hetrick) Duby.
Frank was a member of the Christian faith and was a devout believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He taught his family by example just what a Christian should be. He was a strong, patient and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He graduated from Farrell High School and attended Youngstown State University where he majored in art.
Mr. Duby joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. He earned high honors in both military performance and advanced education. Frank also received letters of commendation from his superiors for the work he performed with the residents of Sonthofen, Germany.
He worked for Hersh Pest Control and then went to Westinghouse Sharon Transformer Division in order to fulfill his desire to start his own business. He was the founder and owner of Duby Termite and Pest Control.
His memberships include the Farrell VFW, American Legion and the Moose.
Besides spending time with his family and friends, he also enjoyed cooking, fishing, swimming, riding bicycles, playing basketball and bocce, campfires, sing-a-longs, and his summer home at Lake Erie. He also enjoyed watching sports in person and on television.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeannine (Meehan) Duby, whom he married, June 24, 1961; 2 daughters; Kim 'Catie' and her husband Alan Adams; and Lynnette and her husband Robert Mittal. He is also survived by his six grandchildren; Alexandria Garon, Jessica and Cassandra Mittal, and Alyssa, Joshua and Aaron Adams.
He will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved him.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146.
A funeral service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Kim and Alan Adams, pastors of the Abundant Life Fellowship in Franklin, PA. Military Honors will follow the service.
