Frank D. Anzenberger of Hermitage passed away at
11:30 a.m.
Wednesday, May 18, 2016, in O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury, where he was a resident for more than six years.
He was 84.
Mr. Anzenberger was born January 14, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a son of Frank D. and Josephine L. Lord Anzenberger.
He was a 1949 graduate of Langley High School, Pittsburgh, and served with the Air National Guard at the Pittsburgh International Airport for more than eight years.
Frank was employed by the former Books Shoe Store in Pittsburgh for 12 years until relocating to Sharon in 1963.
He continued to work for Books Shoe Store in Downtown Sharon until 1965 and then began working as a sales clerk for J.C. Penny Co., Hermitage.
He retired from Penny's in 1993 after twenty-eight years of service.
Frank was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, and its marriage encounter group.
He was also a member of the VFW, Post # 1338; and the American Legion, Post # 299, both Sharon.
He enjoyed crossword puzzles, euchre, swimming, helicopter rides and building model airplanes.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Mildred "Millie" J. Weber, whom he married in Pittsburgh on February 14, 1953.
Three daughters, Margaret "Peggy" J. Ellis, Pittsburgh; Karen M. Tatta and her husband Eugene, Hermitage; and Janice T. Anzenberger and her fiancé Terry Thompson, both Mercer; three sons, Frank D. Anzenberger, III, Dowagiac, MI; Mark J. Anzenberger and his wife Hollie, Avon Lake, Ohio; and Michael J. Anzenberger, Pittsburgh; a sister, Sister Marialein of the Dominican Order, Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Joseph Anzenberger, Delmont, PA; nine grandchildren, Megan, Steven, Brian, Justin, Nicole, Aaron, Lisa, Kimberly and Nicholas; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Anthony Anzenberger; a sister, Katherine Clark; two sisters-in-law, Leah Anzenberger and Virginia Anzenberger; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Klett Anzenberger.
The family would like to thank the staff at O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home and Dr. David D'Amore for their exceptional care.

Calling hours will be from
11 a.m.
until the time of Mass on Saturday, May 21, 2016, in St. Joseph Church, Sharon.
Funeral Mass will be
1 p.m.
Saturday
in the church, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
