Obituary

"Frank Aiello 928 Park Ave. Farrell, passed away peacefully at 2:30 p.m. on Friday (3-6-09) in O'Brien Memorial Health Care Center, Masury, Ohio, with his family at his side. He was 96.
Mr. Aiello was born on Monday, November 4, 1912 in Monongahela, Pa. the son of Peter and Mary Vaccaro Aiello.
He was employed by the city of Farrell for many years as an assistant Foreman in the Street Department. After his retirement from the city, he worked until the age of 89 and retired officially in 2002 from Yourga Trucking Company, Wheatland.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed a good round of golf and in his early years he enjoyed boating and water skiing.
A decorated veteran of WWII, he served with the United States Navy aboard the USS Wilkes-Barre in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations and was honorably discharged with multiple service ribbons and was proud to have helped in the Liberation of the Philippines.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell.
He loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
His wife of 74 years, the former Agnes Petrillo whom he married on March 5th, 1935 survives at the residence.
Also surviving are his three daughters, Donna D'Amico and her husband Tom, Bernie Zappa and her husband Edward, all Farrell; Geri Ference and her husband Richard, Hermitage, his son Dr. Ronald Aiello and his wife Jerri, Poland, OH.; two brothers, Joseph Aiello, Sharon, Anthony Aiello, Norwalk, OH; five grandchildren, Susan Zappa and her husband Parker Dunlap, Jill Littleton and her husband Matthew, Shawn Ference and his wife Maggie, Brett and Jacob Aiello; four great grandchildren, Jack and Matthew Littleton, and Luke and Ellie Ference.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dominic Aiello, and four sisters, Nellie Frado, Rose Bruno, Ang Kosa, and Jenny Marino.
Calling hours: 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday (3-8-09) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State Street, Sharon. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday (3-9-09) at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell with Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor as celebrant. A brief prayer service will held at 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home prior to leaving for the church.
Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage, with full military honors provided by the Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex; and American Legion Post 432, Wheatland."
