Florence Rogers Ross, also known as Corky her whole life, passed away in her sleep on Thursday, September 4, 2025. She was 97.

A lifelong resident of Hermitage, she was currently living at Pelican Landing Assisted Living in Sebastian, Florida. Her only daughter, Becky Eckert Miniea and her husband Mike moved to Vero Beach and brought their mom with them. She had a beautiful apartment that her son-in-law decorated to her liking and made fast friends with five other women who ate all their meals together and attended all the programs, like bingo, every afternoon. There she could get her hair and nails done, and the staff loved her.
Becky was able to visit her almost every day, took her out to lunch at a favorite Chinese restaurant and shopping at Walmart.

Corky loved to cook, collected cookbooks and was a homemaker to her husband, Clay.

She and her husband would often visit a cabin in New York where Clay liked to go hunting. Throughout their visits, Corky made great friends with the other women at camp.

She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, since its founding.

She was close to her two nieces and was loved by her family and so many friends. Everyone who met her fell in love with her and will be missed by many.

She is survived by a daughter, Becky Miniea and her husband, Michael; a son, James Eckert; a step-son, Gerard Ross and his wife, Darlene, whom she loved as if they were her own children. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Jamie Saxion and her husband, David, and their children, and Jodi Bamberger and her husband, JR, and their children.

Corky was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Ross; her parents; and three sisters.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 2:15 p.m. Friday (10/03/2025) in the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd., Hermitage, with Rev. John Miller, pastor as celebrant.
