Florence Ella Kildoo Brown, 92, of 208 W. Winter Ave., passed away on June 16, 2010 at the Greer House.
She was born in New Castle on March 25, 1918 to the late Edward S. and Ellen Jane Jones Kildoo.
Florence graduated from Sandy Lake High School in 1937.
She was employed at The Bell Telephone Company from May 4, 1942 until her retirement on April 1, 1981 as a Customer Service Advisor.
She married Robert R. Brown on January 18, 1986 and he survives her at home. Florence was a member Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
She served as a Lawrence County State Republican Committee Woman for 14 years and as a member of the Lawrence County Republican Committee for 20 years. She helped organize The Young Republicans along with the late Gordon Post. Florence was a past president of the Lawrence County Republican Woman's Club and received the Outstanding Republican Award in Lawrence County. She also received congratulations from the Pennsylvania State Senate sponsored by Senator Tim Shaffer and signed by Mark Corrigan, Secretary for her service to the Republican Party. She was listed in Who's Who in American politics. Florence received the Bell Telephone Good Neighbor Award. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Wimodausis. She was a former member of the New Castle Business and Professional Woman's Club and the New Castle Chamber of Commerce.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three stepdaughters, Lydia Geiger of Cape Coral, Fl. Jan Anderson and her husband Fred of New Castle and Jill McConahy and her husband Tom of Volant, Pa. One stepson Harry Brown and his wife Nancy of Milton, Fl. One nephew William Kildoo and his wife Susan of Las Vegas, Nv. One niece, Jayne Verardi and her husband Lou of Cleveland, Oh. And one great nephew, Ryan Verardi also of Cleveland. Seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren survive.
In addition to her parents, a brother William Kildoo Sr. preceded her in death.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Chris Weichman, Pastor of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
