Obituary

Funeral will be Thursday for Florence Ward Biros, who walked through the pearly gates into the arms of her savior at 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, while residing at Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care, New Wilmington, where she had lived for a short while. She was 83. Mrs. Biros was born July 4, 1931, in Johnsonburg, Pa., a daughter of Gordon and Thelma Deckler Ward. She attended and graduated from Sharon City School District. After having raised her three beloved children, she chased her dream of writing. On May 5, 1951, she married James W. Biros. Together with friend Ron Ligo, they created, owned and operated a Christian company called Green Supreme. Florence and Jim also owned a second Christian company, Son-Rise Publications. She became the accomplished author of more than 30 books. Among those were "Miracles," "Lincoln," "Christopher Fox" and "Dog Jack." "Dog Jack" has been used for years in home schooling, schools, reading clubs, etc. One of her greatest joys had been going to schools and encouraging the kids to seek after their dreams. For her, the dream of her life came when "Dog Jack" - a Civil War novel - became a movie and premiered in Pittsburgh. She also published a yearly devotional, "Penned From the Heart." She was a member of Cedar Avenue Bible Church and previously, for many years, Lebanon Presbyterian Church. She was on the board of Crossing Paths and lived her life's goal of pointing people to a personal relationship with Jesus. For her, there were no strangers, only brothers and sisters with problems whom she needed to help. Besides her husband Jim, she leaves behind: two daughters, Diana and her husband David Kuhlber of Grove City; and Nancy and husband Gary Ceremuga of Transfer; a son, Walter and his wife Billene Kilgore of Sharpsville; her grandchildren, Darci and Tyler Wise of Grove City; Dane and Lindsay Kuhlber of Parrish, Fla.; Ashley and Joel Davis, Watertown, N.Y.; and Marissa and fiance Mike Foster of San Antonio, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; stepchildren Allen Biros and Jill and Bill Little, all of Maryland; Joyce and Roger Antos of Sharpsville; and Dale and Ellen Biros of Michigan; eight step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty and and husband Kent Wymore, Copple, Texas. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Ward. If you like, you may donate in memory of Florence to Crossing Paths Ministry, 670 Dutch Lane, Hermitage, PA 16148. Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (11- 19-14) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
