Mr. Herrmann was born February 4, 1940, in Sharon, a son of Francis and Bertha Wilhelm Herrmann. He was a 1958 graduate of Sharpsville High School and served with the United States Air Force Reserves.

As a young man, Leo worked for his family business, Winton Club Beverages, Sharpsville, before eventually starting his own business. Known by many as the "Chip man," he formed Leo Herrmann Distributing, Inc., and worked as a self-employed distributor for Wise Potato Chips since 1966.

He was a member of the Brookfield Optimist Club and the Brookfield High School Band Boosters.

Leo cherished the time he spent with his family, especially the weekend trips he would take with his wife, Nancy.

Surviving are: his wife of 52 years, the former Nancy Humphrey, whom he married September 12, 1964; two daughters, Suzanne Aldanondo and her husband Jose, Ypsilanti, MI; and Betsy Martin and her husband David, Hermitage; a son, Jeff Leo Herrmann and his wife Amy, Canfield, OH; three sisters,  Sister Barbara Herrmann, Hubbard, OH; and  Jean Hauger and Sally Buckley, both Sharpsville; six grandchildren, Emily and Olivia Aldanondo; Benjamin and Daniel Herrmann; and Nathan and Leah Martin.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Caroline Herrmann; and two brothers, Paul and Harold Herrmann.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 100 W Station Square Dr # 1900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today ( 10-5-16) and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday (10-6-16) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State Street, Sharon.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Rob McFarland, pastor of Chestnut Ridge Church, Hubbard, OH, officiating.
