Obituary

Evelyn E. Wlodarski, 83, of Brookfield passed away peacefully late Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025, in UPMC Passavant – McCandless, Pittsburgh, PA.

Mrs. Wlodarski was born February 24, 1942, in Sharon, a daughter of Evan Anton and Emma Dorothy (Katkich) Sulich. After graduating from Brookfield High School in 1960, she earned a bachelor's degree in education from Youngstown State University in 1964 – where she later completed her master's in special education in 1971.

Evelyn began her teaching career at Brookfield School District, and was quickly hired by Matthews School District, Vienna, OH. She taught at Matthews Jr./Sr. High School for 35 years prior to retiring in 1996. Evelyn later worked at the Brookfield Preschool for 15 years, retiring again in 2014. She was a member of the Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, Trumbull Education Association, and the Retired Teachers Association.

Evelyn was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Sharon, where she belonged to the St. Theresa Altar Society and was a devoted volunteer at all church fundraisers and events.

She was an avid reader who also enjoyed gardening. Evelyn loved being a grandma, always supporting her grandchildren in their many passions and activities.

Her beloved husband of nearly 53 years, Bernard "Bernie" J. Wlodarski, whom she married June 13, 1964, preceded her in death on April 10, 2017.

Evelyn is survived by three sons, Donald Sherman (Misty), Atlanta, GA, Bernard "BJ" Wlodarski, Jr. (companion, Debbie Ott), South Pymatuning Twp., and Chris Wlodarski, Masury, OH; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Chase, and Alexis Sherman; and Emma and Leah Wlodarski.

Eveyln was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday (7-14-25) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday (7-15-25) in St. Anthony Church, with Rev. James Power, as celebrant.

Interment: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
