Evelyn M. (Spencer) Thomas, 69, of Sharon, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025.

Mrs. Thomas was born on January 11, 1956, in Chesterfield County, SC, a daughter of the late John and Paully (Mumford) Spencer. She was educated at Chesterfield County School District.

Following high school, Evelyn proudly and honorably served her country for many years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, attending yard sales, and participating in church functions.

She is survived by her husband, Gary J. Thomas, whom she married on June 11, 1981; two daughters, Jasmine S. Thomas, of Matthews, NC, and Ashley N. Cole (Maurice), of Philadelphia, PA; two sons, Gary J. Thomas, Jr. (TaKeshia), of Grove City, PA, and Derrick C. Thomas, of Hermitage, PA; several grandchildren; and 12 siblings, Mary Polk (Bruce), Ester Merriam Woodrow, Thelma and Peggy Brown, Joyce Quick (Ernest), Irene Avery, Leanne Evans, Carolyn Deberry, Houston Spencer (Linda), Walter Spencer (Ann), and Floyd and Betty Merriman.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by eight siblings, Paul Spencer (Patricia), Samuel Merriman (Janet), Leon Evans, John Willie Spencer, Jr. (Lavina), Dorothy Crowley (Roy), Trudy Young, Arlane Ellis and Linda Hood.

The family will receive guests Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in New Beginnings Christian Fellowship of Shenango Valley, 858 Wallis Ave., Farrell, PA.

A homegoing celebration will be at 11 a.m., in the church.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
