Obituary

Evelyn H. Balcerzak, formerly of Richmond Ht's., Ohio, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2012, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, where she was a resident for the past two and a half years. She was 93. Mrs. Balcerzak was born January 12, 1919 in Chicago, IL a daughter of the late Antoni and Valeria Jagilsky Wilk. She resided in Chicago for the first twenty five years of her life. In 1944, while volunteering as a Red Cross Army nurse at a Veterans Hospital in Chicago, she met her future husband, Clement Balcerzak, who was a patient recovering from wounds he received in Italy during WW II. The two were married November 3, 1945 and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to raising four sons, Evelyn held various secretarial and administrative positions, one of which was administrative assistant to the Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland. She was also a licensed realtor for the former MacLean Realty Company of Cleveland. She was an active member of St. Paschal Baylon Parish in Highland Ht's., Ohio, and was currently a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church in Farrell. Her husband passed away July 13, 2000. Surviving are: four sons, Arthur Balcerzak and his wife Jean, Sharon; Thomas Balcerzak and his wife Ann, South Bend, Indiana; John Balcerzak and his wife Patti, Fountain Hills, Arizona; and Paul Balcerzak, San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Steven Balcerzak and his wife Tracy, Huron, Ohio; Melissa Solares and her husband Santiago, Bowie, Maryland; Amy Field and her husband Chris, Urbana, Maryland; and Ashley and Bryan Balcerzak, both Fountain Hills, Arizona; and seven great grandchildren, Hunter, Sydney and Liam Field, all Urbana, Maryland; Santiago, Kateri and Gabriella Solares, all Bowie, Maryland; and Dominic Balcerzak, Huron, Ohio. Besides her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, George, Steve and Edward Wilk. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121. Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, in J.
