Obituary

Eva M. Edell, formerly of Spencer Ave., Sharon; and Memorial Dr., Farrell, passed away at 2:20 a.m. Sunday (1-30-11) in Liberty (Ohio) Health Care Center. She was 92.

Mrs. Edell was born October 12, 1918 in Iselin, PA a daughter of the late Nicola and Rosa Ranaletti Guanciale.

She was a 1937 alumna of Farrell High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh.

Eva was a hairdresser and owned and operated a styling salon for 60 years before retiring in 2003. She also taught beauty culture at Farrell High School during the 1940's.

She was an active member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, where she was a member and past president of the Ladies Guild; a Eucharistic Minister; a member of the Hospitality Committee; and a volunteer with the church food pantry. Eva was a former member of the Wengler Ave. PTA and the Sharon Quota Club.

Her husband, Paul J. Edell, whom she married July 27, 1946, passed away June 1, 1980.

Surviving are: two daughters, Leah R. Maselli and her husband James, Girard, Ohio; and Theresa M. Edell, Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Clara Fekety, Youngstown, Ohio; and Elsie Corcoran, Hermitage and formerly of Farrell; two grandchildren, Jennifer Miller and her husband William, Estero, Florida; and Catherine Maselli, Cleveland, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Raegan, Abigail and Brady Miller; a sister-in-law, Floretta Guanciale, Palm Harbor, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Eva was preceded in death by a brother, Ben Guanciale; and three sisters, Jean Sifonis, Esther Bacich and Inez Zito.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Church Food Pantry, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday (2-2-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday (2-3-11) in St. Joseph Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
