IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eugene P.
Wiesen
July 12, 1942 – April 16, 2025
Eugene "Gene" P. Wiesen, 82, of Hermitage and Ft. Myers, FL, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, April 16, 2025.
Mr. Wiesen was born July 12, 1942, in Sharon, PA, a son of the late Paul J. and Helen C. (Conlin) Wiesen. He attended St. Joseph Parochial Grade School and graduated from Sharon High School in 1961.
A U.S. Army veteran, Gene served as a general supply specialist from 1964 to 1966.
Following his honorable discharge, Gene returned to work for General Electric's plant in Niles, OH, where he became a machinist. In 1981, he transferred to the company's plant in Ravenna, Ohio, and retired in 1998.
Gene was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
At just eight years old, a young boy fell in love with the game of golf while playing his first round at the Dum Dum golf course in Sharon, PA. With a used club and one ball, Gene's love for the game was born, and to this day would tell you, "There is never a bad day on a golf course." Gene was a member of Legends Golf and Country Club in Ft. Myers, FL, where he won five Club Championships. He also belonged to Avalon at Buhl Golf and Country Club in Sharon.
A humble man who always put others before himself, Gene used his machinist and handyman skills to mend broken homes and hearts alike, asking nothing in return but the chance to make a difference.
His beloved wife, Valjean (Morris) Wiesen, whom he married July 18, 2020, survives at home. Gene's first wife, Genevieve (Mastrian) Wiesen, whom he married October 15, 1966, preceded him in death on April 19, 2019.
Gene is survived by two daughters, Christine Walsh (Joseph), Hermitage, and Linda Wiesen, Smyrna, GA; four grandchildren, Maureen and Jonathan Walsh, and Annalise and Sam Trocano; a stepson, Wesley Dean and his daughter, Lydia Dean.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Gene was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Vorhaben; and a brother, Jerry Wiesen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Buhl Park Junior Golf Program, 1290 Forker Blvd, Hermitage, PA 16148.
Family and friends will be received from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday (4-22-25) at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. To view Gene's service via livestream, please visit: Gene's Mass of Christian Burial.
