A memorial service will be held at a later date for Eugene C. Reda of Farrell, formerly of S. Ninth Street, Sharpsville, who passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Thursday (1-8-15) in his home. He was 73. Mr. Reda was born June 12, 1941 in Farrell, the only child of Dominic E. and Carolyn "Lena" Mirage Reda. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1959 graduate of Farrell High School and served with the Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. Gene retired in 1984 as supervisor of inventory control from General American Transportation Corp. (GATX), Masury, where he was employed for 35 years. He was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell. Gene was a member of American Legion Post 299, Sharon; and the Italian Home, Farrell. Years earlier, he was an avid golfer. His wife, the former Ann E. Tallarico, whom he married Oct. 9, 1965, passed away July 22, 2003. Surviving are a daughter, Cesca Perriello and her husband James, Fort Mill, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Isabella and Luca Perriello. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Vonnie Rogers, Sharon; a brother-in-law, Roland "Bud" Tallarico and his wife Louise, Greenville, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Gene was preceded in death by his parents. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
