Eugene "Gene" H. Dougherty, 89, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 29, 2025, in Sharon Regional Hospital.

Mr. Dougherty was born October 01, 1935, in Sharon, a son of the late John and Erla (Birnlay) Dougherty. He was a graduate of Sharpsville High School and honorably served in the U.S. Army.

Gene's career in the transportation industry began as a driver, and he ascended to become an operations and terminal manager at Warner Smith Motor Freight, Inc., in Masury, OH. Later in his career, he transitioned into sales and logistics.

Gene was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, and an active member of the Buhl Club, Sharon, where he enjoyed playing handball with friends. He was an avid shooter who excelled at trap shooting, and was a member of Western Reserve Fish and Game Club, Mercer.

His beloved wife of 48 years, Rosemary (Mindicino) Dougherty, whom he married September 28, 1963, preceded him in death June 10, 2012.

Gene is survived by two sons, Eugene A. Dougherty, Stow, OH, and Mark J. Dougherty (Siobhan), Dunbarton, NH; a sister, Betty Ann Croysdale, Akron, OH; a brother, John Dougherty, Meadville, PA; two grandchildren, Makenna and Braden Dougherty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (8-6-25) in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Anthony Cemetery, Hermitage, where military honors will be rendered by the Wheatland AL and West Middlesex VFW Honor Guard.
