Eugene M. Artac, of Sharon, passed away at
4:22 p.m.
Sunday, June 19, 2016, in his home with his family by his side.
He was 64.
Mr. Artac was born January 27, 1952, in Pittsburgh, a son of Eugene J. and Agnes Jean (Fedock) Artac.
He was a 1970 graduate of Sharon High School and served with the US Navy during the Vietnam Era from 1970 to 1973.
Following his honorable discharge, he earned his bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Edinboro (PA) University.
Gene was employed for many years at the former Sharon Steel's Corporation Farrell plant until its closing in 1992.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, and was a former director of its Religious Education Department.
Gene was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and golfer and was artistically and athletically inclined.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Margaret "Maggie" A. Tishov, whom he married April 14, 1994 in St. Michael's Church, Greenville; a son, Patrick G. Artac, serving with the US Air Force at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota; a sister, Sandra Slotta and her husband Mark, Cary, NC; a brother, Myrl Artac and his wife Linda, Kingwood, TX; his father- and mother-in-law, Adam J. and Joann Tishov, Sharon; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Bartholomew Church Food Pantry, 311 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, PA 16150.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be
11 a.m.
Thursday, June 23, 2016, in St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, with the Rev. Matthew Strickenberger, pastor, as celebrant.
Military honors will be rendered immediately following the Mass.
