Obituary

Ervin Edward "Blue" Hill, 72, of Sharon, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hill was born January 7, 1952, a son of the late Irvin E. Gilmore Jr., and Margaret (Bailey-Hill) Brooks. He graduated from East High School, Youngstown, OH, where he earned the nickname "Big E", in reference to Alvin Hayes, because both were left handed and dominated sports.

Blue worked as a forklift driver for Consolidated Glass, New Castle, for over 20 years.

He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and LeBron James. In his spare time, Ervin enjoyed fishing, and loved to listen and dance to music. Above all, he loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with them and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. His family will miss the way he spoke his mind, and his kind and loving personality.

Blue is survived by his children, "the twins", Michelle Brown (Jermaine), Pittsburgh, and Michael Lane (Brandi), New Castle, Jamal Hill (Tiffany), New Castle, Ervin Hill Jr., Hermitage, and Tre' Hill, Sharon; a host of step children; siblings, Jacqueline Fears, Columbus, OH, Sandra Gilmore, Youngstown, OH, Michael Hill, Columbus, OH, and Doran Hill, Ashtabula, OH; 39 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two daughters, Quiana Morton, and Tyandra Morton; and four sisters, Edith "Shirley" Sims, Delores Barnes, Carol Asbury-Williams, and Laverne Gilmore.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 2 p.m. in Life Changing Ministries, 2929 Mercer Road, New Castle.
