Erla J. Carpenter of Grove City passed away at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, in UPMC Passavant Hospital-McCandless, Pittsburgh. She was 76.
Mrs. Carpenter was born February 12, 1942, in North Liberty, PA, a daughter of Harold and Harriet (Uber) Dennison and attended Victory School, Nectarine, PA. Erla was employed for 33 years as a cook at Penn Grove Hotel, Grove City. In her spare time, she loved to play bingo.
Erla is survived by her husband, Charles Carpenter, whom she married on December 27, 1960. She is also survived by two daughters, Doreen Metheney (David Jay); and Sherry Spencer, all of Grove City; two sisters, Edna Meals (Bob), North Liberty; and Edwina Redfoot (Ralph), Phoenix City, Alabama; two brothers, Harold Dennison; and Milford Dennison (Hope), both of Grove City; four grandchildren, George Coast, IV; and Justin, Ashley and Amanda Spencer; and seven great grandchildren.
Erla was preceded in death by her parents.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, at www.cancer.org.
In keeping Erla's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
