Eric Wayne West, Concord, NC; formerly of Greenville, PA, entered into heaven at 3:13 p.m. Sunday (12-20-09) at the Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC following a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. He was 30.
Eric was born December 18, 1979 in Houston, TX and moved to the Greenville area in the 1990's.
He was a 1998 graduate of Reynolds High School and attended Penn State University, Shenango Campus, for two years.
Eric had a very strong work ethic that began when he was a teen. He worked at the former Trinity Industries in Greenville (where he met his future bride) while he was in high school and rose to the rank of foreman. He also worked at McCullough Dairy Farm in Fredonia and Kress' Auto and Towing in Mercer. Eric moved to California in 2001 and worked at a RV dealership for two years and then moved to Charlotte, NC in 2003. He was employed at Tom Johnson Camping Center in Concord, NC before starting his own business, Eric West Custom Coach, Kannapolis, NC which was a customization in motor home transportation for NASCAR and affiliates. Eric had an amazing gift of craftsmanship and took great pride in his work.
He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, loved hunting, woodworking, cooking, and enjoyed experimenting with different spices and meats and making them into sausage. He continues to live on through his son Ayden, who was born in July of 2008, and all those whom he formed an everlasting relationship with.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Becky Ramp, whom he married December 27, 2003 in the 1st Assembly of God Church, Hermitage; his son Ayden; his mother and step-father, Mary Tumpack Jones and Pastor John Jones, Greenville; his father and step-mother, Charley West and Beverly West, Caliente, CA; a brother, Frank Van Tassel, Gustine, California; two half sisters, Shannon Moreno and Heather Miller; and a half brother, Shawn West, all Columbus, Ohio; and four step-brothers, Jim, Gary, John and Barry Jones, all Greenville.
Eric was preceded in death by a brother, Charles James West, who died at birth.
