Emma M. Young, 438 Alderman Ave., Sharon, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday (1-25-11) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, after a period of failing health. She was 77.
Mrs. Young was born June 16, 1933 in Wheatland a daughter of Harold and Martha Gunsley Steen.
A lifelong area resident, she attended Sharon High School .
Emma was employed by Shenango Metal Craft, West Middlesex, and the Dairy Mart in Masury.
A homemaker, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She also enjoyed crocheting, bowling, crafts and taking care of others.
Her husband, Frederick H. Young, whom she married June 13, 1952, passed away November 22, 1995.
Surviving are: five children, Debra Davies and her husband Robert, Brookfield; Dian Winiecki and her husband Kenneth, Hermitage; Fred Young, at home; Darlene Sanson, Girard, PA; and Ted Young and his wife Kim, Tooele, Utah; eleven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two bro the rs, Joseph Steen, Sharon; and Gerald Steen and his wife Sally, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Emma was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rainey; and two brothers, Harold Steen, Jr. and Robert Steen.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. today (1-27-11) and one hour prior to the service on Friday (1-28-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Herbert F. Young, formerly of Leslie Street, Sharon, passed away at 9:45 a.m., on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in St. Paul Homes, Greenville. He was 95.
Mr. Young was born August 1, 1916 in Sharon the son of Fredrick A. and Hazel Miller Young.
He was an alumna of Sharon High School.
Herbert retired in 1974 as a supervisor from the Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he was employed for 42 years.
Mr. Young was member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Lodge #810, Hermitage and a former member of the German Home, Farrell. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and was instrumental in the formation of the Sharon Baseball Little League. Herbert was a very giving and kind person who loved his family dearly.
His wife, Helen M. Sutton, whom he married in 1934, passed away in 1983.
He is survived by a daughter Patricia DelFratte and her husband James, Hermitage; one son, Herbert D. Young and his wife Faye, Brookfield; one brother, Raymond Young and his wife Jean, Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren, Faye Caldwell, James, Terry and David DelFratte, and Ehrlene, Freddy, Mark and his wife Mary Beth, Scott and Julie and her husband Steve Kochera; 11 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Marie Young, Hermitage.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Fredrick Young, and a sister, Belva Scardina.
