Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (8-10-11) for Elsie T. Sonoga, Sharon, who passed away at 9:05 a.m. Thursday (8-4-11) in St. Elizabeth's Health Center, Youngstown. She was 77.
Elsie was born May 28, 1934 in New York, New York the daughter of John and Theresa Zeiser Magdits.
She graduated in 1952 from Cathedral High School in New York City. Later in life she attended Penn State University for two years.
She was employed at J. C. Penny's in the Shenango Valley Mall for 34 years where she held several management positions and retired in 1996.
Mrs. Sonoga was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church, Sharon. She was a member and Past President of the American Business Women's Association for twenty two years and was honored to be named their Woman of the Year in 1980. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading, and enjoyed spending time with her Thursday afternoon book club.
Her husband Leonard P. Sonoga whom she married on September 15, 1956, passed away on August 12, 2008.
Her family was everything to her and she will be sadly missed.
She leaves her daughter, Ellen Kotulak and her husband Ron, Gibsonia, Pa., her son Michael Sonoga and his wife Marka, Brookfield, Oh; three grandchildren, Vincent Sonoga, and Katerina and Maria Kotulak; she also leaves her sister with whom she made her home, Theresa 'Tessie' Magdits, a sister in law, Mary Magdits, Boca Raton, Fl, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Magdits.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (8-10-11) at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of the Sacred Heart, 40 South Irvine Ave., Sharon, with the Rev. Henry C. Andrae, pastor as the celebrant. A brief prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the procession leaving for the church.
Interment: St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hermitage.
