Ellen F. Johnston, 310 Rexford Dr., Apt. #4, Hermitage, formerly of Akron, Ohio, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was 87.
Mrs. Johnston was born May 4, 1922 in Farrell, PA, the daughter of Charles Venetti and Rose LeDonne Venetti Donatelli.
She was a 1940 graduate of Farrell High School.
She was a homemaker and also worked as a transcriber for Aetna Life Insurance, Akron, for 9 years and then as a secretary in the employment office of the Sharon Steel Company for 9 years.
She was a member Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
She was a member of the John XXIII Auxiliary, a volunteer with the Blind Association, American Heart Association, Prince of Peace Center in Farrell, PA, and the Ronald McDonald House in Akron.
She is survived by her husband, Tedford E. Johnston, whom she married July 17, 1943. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2008.
Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy E. Collier and her husband, John M., Antioch, CA; two sons Charles H. Johnston and his wife Michaelene, Charlottesville, VA and Kevin M. Johnston and his wife Sindy, Cumming, GA; a sister, Lucy Banks, Farrell, PA; four grandchildren, Brooke, Chase and Cody Johnston and Dallas Collier and a great grandson, Dameon Collier.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Patsy and Anthony Venetti.

Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the funeral home, with Rev. Jeffery J. Noble, pastor of the Church of Notre Dame.
