Elizabeth "Betty" Tomko, Garden Way, Hermitage, formerly of Sharon, passed away on Friday afternoon (4/1/2016) in her residence following a brief illness.   She was 94.

She was born October 7, 1921 in Hubbard, Oh the daughter of George and Anna Straka Hurney.  She moved to Farrell as a young girl and attended schools in Farrell.  She was a 1938 graduate of Farrell High School.

Elizabeth was an excellent cook and homemaker.  She also worked as a secretary at Bolotin's Furniture Store and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, both Hermitage; and the A & P Store, Sharon.

She was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society at the church.  She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for many years.

Her husband, Michael Tomko, Jr., whom she married November 23, 1945, passed away April 4 2005.  She is survived by two sons, Kenneth M. Tomko and his wife Patricia, Chillicothe, Ohio and Keith M. Tomko and his wife Cynthia, Jefferson Hills, Pa; four grandchildren, Brian Tomko and his companion Neil Gilbert; Michelle Arvai and her husband John; Rachel Tomko and her husband Aaron Murray; and Renee Tomko; three great grandchildren, Kennedy, Christine and John Arvai.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Matta and Helen Bandzak; and two brothers, George and John Hurney.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3325 Morefield Road, Hermitage, PA or Meals on Wheels, 396 Buhl Blvd., Sharon, PA  16146.

Interment:   Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Hermitage.
