Elizabeth 'Betty' Petro, Orchard St., Sharon, PA passed away at 12:35 p.m. Saturday (11-28-09) in her home following a brief illness. She was 90.
Mrs. Petro was born November 26, 1919 in Smock, PA a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Kiluk) Dresel.
A homemaker, she was an active member of St.'s Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon, where she was a charter member of the Altar Guild and a former member of the Lutheran Layman's League. Betty enjoyed cooking, baking, and flower and vegetable gardening; and would spend hours making beautiful crocheted items and beads.
Her husband, Paul Petro, whom she married June 28, 1941, passed away December 22, 2008.
Surviving are: two daughters, Betty L. Hardell and her husband Leonard, Tavares, Florida; and Patricia K. Parker, Cortland, Ohio; two sons, Paul M. Petro and his wife Joyce, New Castle, PA; and Michael A. Petro, Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Jamie Hardell; Kara Speth and her husband Brian; and Erika Petro; two sisters, Delores 'Rose' Rotell and her husband William, Farrell, PA; and Cheryl Lockovich and her husband Joe, Marlow, Oklahoma; and three brothers, Walter Dresel and his wife Sophie, Tustin, California; Bernard Dresel and his wife Marilyn, Sharon; and Ronald Dreszel and his wife Mary Sue, Farrell.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by an infant son, Edward; two sisters, Dorothy Caszatt and Irene Magestro; a brother, Joseph Dresel; and a son-in-law, Larry Parker.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St's. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 699 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, PA 16146; or to the Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling Hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (12-2-09) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
