Elizabeth "Betty/ Liz" Cione, 92, of Sharon, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, January 14, 2025, in Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Cione was born on February 1, 1932, in Farrell, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Mary (Donata DiPreta) Gentile. A lifelong area resident, she was a 1950 graduate of Farrell High School.

Betty spent her career working in metal lubricant manufacturing. She was employed as an office manager at the former Graffo Colloids in downtown Sharon. Upon the plant's closure, she worked in the same capacity for AML Industries, Warren, OH.

A devout Catholic, Betty was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, where she belonged to the Bethany Club and volunteered as the church secretary. Betty also served her faith by teaching CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) and religious education at the former Monsignor Geno Monti School, Farrell.

An avid shopper and fashionista, Betty loved to go shopping, especially for clothes and shoes. She also looked forward to socializing, whether it was at a local restaurant or her Bridge Club. Additionally, she looked forward to enjoying a black-and-white movie, typically on the Turner Classic Movies channel. Betty was proud of her Italian Heritage, further embedding her love of Italian cuisine and music.

Her husband, James Norman "Wayne" Cione, whom she married on December 2, 1967, passed away on November 20, 2002.

She is survived by her son, James "Jamie" Cione, Montgomery, NY; three grandchildren, Matthew James, Alexander Dennis and Luke Joseph Cione; two step-children, Wayne M. Cione and Peggy (Gary) Marinelli, all of Florida; a sister, Marie (Jerome) Zreliak, Hermitage; a brother, Joseph (Jane) Gentile, Brookfield, OH; six nieces and nephews; five great-nieces; and four great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Sabina G. Black and Mary Louise Gentile.
