Elizabeth Idella Brady, 107 Rose Court. Sharon, formerly of the West Homestead area of Pittsburgh, passed away unexpectedly at 12:25 a.m. Saturday (2-20-10) in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Youngstown. She was 84.
She was born on February 25, 1925 in Dravosburg Pa. (Allegheny County) the daughter of William Wayne and Emma Lula Simpson Coursin.
Mrs. Brady graduated from Clairton Schools. She later studied at the Connelly Skill Learning Center where she received her certification to practice as a licensed practical nurse.
As a nurse, she worked at several nursing facilities throughout Pittsburgh including The Willis Nursing Center in the Homestead Personal Care Residence, Eldercrest Nursing Center, Munhall, and at the Kane Regional Center, McKeesport.
A decorated veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Mrs. Brady served from March 9, 1945 until her honorable discharge on May 6, 1946 and was awarded the American Area and World War II Victory Medal.
Mrs. Brady was a member of The Salvation Army, Sharon where she knew her way around the kitchen and was a familiar face for the past twenty five years.
She rooted for her beloved Pittsburgh teams and was a true fan of all sports.
Her husband William Jr. Brady whom she married on August 5th, 1946, passed away on December 31, 1970.
She leaves her two daughters, Laura Lou Swires and her husband John, Bloomfield, NJ, Patricia E. Huey and her husband David L. of Burgettstown, Pa., two sons, Robert E. Brady, Bessemer, Pa., and Dean W. Brady, West Homestead, Pa., one brother Raymond Coursin, Florida, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Tuch, and a brother Paul Coursin.
