Eleanor P. Ondich, formerly of 86 Capitol Court, Farrell; and The Ridgewood at Shenango, Hermitage, PA, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015, in St Paul's Home, Greenville. She was 87. Mrs. Ondich was born July 17, 1928, in Farrell, a daughter of Marko and Pauline Bauer Skarica. A lifelong area resident, she was a 1946 graduate of Farrell High School. Years ago, she was a cashier at the former A & P in Farrell. Eleanor was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermitage. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking and telling jokes. Her husband of 59 years, George Michael Ondich, whom she married October 25, 1947, passed away May 18, 2007. She is survived by: a daughter, Stephanie Stankiewicz and her husband Alan, Patton, PA; two granddaughters, Anastasia Stankiewicz, Las Vegas, NV; and Alexandra Symans and her husband Christopher, Philadelphia; three sisters-in-law, Natalie Skarica, Dolly Lucas and Elsie Ondich, all of Farrell; and several nieces and a nephew. Besides her husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; a son Christopher George Ondich; and two brothers, John A. and William Skarica. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of St. Paul's The Villas and Southern Care Hospice for their care and compassion during Eleanor's illness. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3325 Morefield Rd., Hermitage, with Gary B. Nelson, pastor, officiating.
