Eleanor T. Matetich, Hermitage, passed away at 6 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 91. Eleanor was born June 28, 1923 in New Castle, a daughter of Rocco and Grace Arena Simari. She graduated from Mohawk High School in 1940. Eleanor was a homemaker. She also worked as an office manager for Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co., Sharon. She belonged to St. Joseph's Church in Sharon, where she was a member of the Women's Guild. She loved reading, cooking, baking and staying abreast of current events. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Frank Matetich, whom she married May 20, 1950, passed away Feb 1, 2003. She is survived by her two children, Grace Ann Popeck and her husband Michael, Upper St. Clair area of Pittsburgh; and Frank Matetich and his wife Linda, Cortland; two grandsons, Michael Popeck, Upper St. Clair; and Brian Popeck, Herndon, Va.; a brother, Gerald Simari, Hillsville, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Simari, Boardman, Ohio. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Simari. Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (5-12-15) in J.
