Obituary

Eleanor Ruth Hoffman of 394 West Lake Rd., Transfer (Pymatuning Twp.), passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 10:15 p.m. in her residence with her family by her side. She was 81.

Mrs. Hoffman was born in Conway, PA, on December 12, 1929, a daughter of Walter and Margaret Lewis Hudspeth.

She was a 1947 graduate of Sharon High School.

Eleanor worked for many years in the laundry department at the Holiday Inn in Hermitage.

Mrs. Hoffman was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sharon. Eleanor was an excellent cook. She was a Steelers and NASCAR fan, her favorite racer was Dale Jr. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 6404 Sharpsville where she was a volunteer caterer for many years. Eleanor also helped with the bingo night at the Maenerchor Club in Sharon. Most importantly she enjoyed the times she spent with her family.

Her husband, Thomas Hoffman, whom she married, July 3, 1947, passed away on June 14, 1989.

She is survived by: 6 children, Thomas Jr. and his wife Carol Hoffman of Hermitage, Margaret and her husband James Campbell of Transfer, Jerre and her husband James Glus of Transfer, Donna Vigus of Transfer, Mary Brown of Hubbard, OH, and William Hoffman of St. Clairsville, OH; 12 grandchildren, Thomas Hoffman III, Amanda Devereux, Nicole Hoffman, Matthew Hoffman, James Campbell IV, Jolene Camley, Terri Masemer, James Glus, Carl Brown, Loretta Schell, Tammy Houser, and John Brown; 9 great grandchildren, Nathan Dunham, Colton Masemer, Isaac Hoffman, Barbara Ann Schell, Dianna Schell, George Schell, Joanna Frantz, Violet Houser, Chole Brown.

Besides her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by an infant sister, Margaret Hudspeth; 4 brothers, Walter Jr., Earl, Howard, Robert Hudspeth; 2 granddaughters, Violet Brown and Chelsea Hoffman; a great grandson, Skyler Frantz; and a son in law, Bert Vigus.

Calling Hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Henry Andrae.

Internment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
