Elaine Margaret Slagle, 75 of Pulaski, Pa. passed away at 9:08am on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, following and extended illness.
She was born September 24. 1936 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Donald and Thelma Woodings Van Horn.
A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of the Union Township High School. Elaine married Robert John Slagle on November 24, 1955, together they owned and operated several Boron and BP (British Petroleum) service stations in both Lawrence and Mercer County.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardending, and tending to her flowers at her home. She also enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends who would get together once a month.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her son Ronald Allan Slagle and his wife Denise (Stickle) and her two granddaughters who she dearly loved, Ronalyn and Stacey Slagle; a sister, Darlene Glass and her husband Bob; two brothers Edward Van Horn and his wife Darlene, all of New Castle, and Jack Van Horn of Williamsburgh Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Calling hours are Friday 6 to 8 pm. in the Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 111 Falls Street.
Her funeral will take place Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Douglas Runyan, pastor of The New Bedford Presbysterian church officiating.
