Obituary
Elaine M. Nakich of Sharon passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, August 27, 2016, while visiting family in Virginia.
She was 73.
Mrs. Nakich was born August 6, 1943, in Sharon, the only child of Joseph and Mary (Galardi) Fanelli.
A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Sharon High School and attended Mercyhurst College, Erie.
Elaine was an elementary school teacher at the former St. Anthony's Parochial Grade School in Sharon and was affiliated with the Sharon American Legion, Post # 299, for many years.
She was a homemaker and loved baking. She also enjoyed golfing, tennis and playing cards.
Elaine's greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren whom she adored.
Surviving are: her husband of 53 years, Robert M. Nakich, whom she married August 3, 1963; a daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Carnes and her husband Kevin and their children, Brock and Alexandra "Alex", Fredericksburg, VA; and a son, Shawn Nakich and his wife Mona and their children, Marco and Geno, Farrell.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Sunday, September 4, 2016, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
