Obituary

Elaine Dawn Long, 71, of Hermitage, formerly of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Long was born March 19, 1949, in Greenville, PA, a daughter of the late Harry and Eleanor (Finney) Thompson. She was a 1967 graduate of Reynolds High School and earned her bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from Thiel College, Greenville.

Prior to earning her bachelor's degree, Elaine was employed in the bakery department of the former Bi-Lo Foods, Greenville. Later, she worked as a respiratory therapist for more than 20 years at Meadville Medical Center, retiring in 2014.

Elaine was an active member of Miracle Valley Church, Hermitage, and enjoyed attending its Women's study group.

Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren and the Lord. Elaine faithfully read her bible and at one time taught Sunday school, VBS and Pioneer Girls.  For many years she was a leader in the Christian organization Aglow International.

She also enjoyed cooking and baking.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Long, whom she married April 6, 1996; a daughter, Melody Augustson and her husband Shawn, of Columbus, OH; a son, Wayne Farver and his wife Trisha, of Cincinnati, OH; two step-daughters, Megan John and her husband Travis, of Greenville, and Bonnie Studor and her husband Rob, of Hermitage; ten grandchildren, Andrew, Luc, Tyler, Rachel, Nyla, Maverick, Quinn, Mila, Alaina and Macey; and two brothers, Eric Thompson and his wife Donna, of Lacon, ILL., and Kevin Thompson, of Meadville.

Service date will be Sept 26th 12:30 at Miracle Valley Church Hermitage.
