Eileen D. Buckel Rizzo, 85, formerly of Sunnyside Road, passed away at 11:04 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, in the Avalon Nursing Center, where she was a resident for the past 13 months.

Mrs. Rizzo was born April 5, 1930, in New Castle, a daughter of the late John and Mary Catherine Cranney Brogan.

She was a lifelong area resident and a 1949 graduate of New Castle High School.

Prior to her marriage, Eileen was employed at the former G.C. Murphy in downtown New Castle.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. Mary Church, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, New Castle.

Surviving are her husband, Anthony Rizzo, whom she married Sept. 30, 1972; a daughter, Cheryl Pierog and her husband, Art, of New Castle; four sons, William Buckel of New Castle, Jeffrey Buckel and his wife, Cindy, of Brimfield, Mass.,Martin Buckel and his wife, Debra, of West Farmington, Ohio, and Gary Buckel and his wife, Annette, of New Castle; 11 grandchildren, Tracy, Jason, Robert, Cory, Cayti, Austin, Kyle, Chad, Gary, Vincent and Carly; and six great-grandchildren.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steven Buckel; a great-grandson, Hunter Buckel, who died in infancy; a daughter, Kathleen; a granddaughter, Dawn; and three brothers, Jack, David and Michael Brogan.

Eileen was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a second mother to many. She will be deeply missed.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, Pa. 16101 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

There are no calling hours or service.

Entombment will be at Castle View Mausoleum.
