Eileen L. Chec of New Castle, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 5:24 a.m. in the emergency room at Jameson Hospital. She was 81.

Mrs. Chec was born in New Castle, PA on September 1, 1929, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Wirtz Logan.

She was a graduate of New Castle High School. Following high school she was a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Company for over thirty years.

Eileen was a member of St. Mary's Church ? Mary Mother of Hope Parish. She enjoyed playing cards with a local card club. In her early years she enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking, and being a homemaker. Eileen enjoyed talking on the phone with friends and most of all her sister.

Her husband, Frank J. Chec, whom she married, July 6, 1959, passed away on May 17, 1998.

Eileen is survived by, 2 nieces, Marcia Penwell of Campbell, OH and Anita Harbin of Carnegie, PA.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eileen was preceded in death by a sister, Mary L. Paden.

Calling Hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday, December 30, 2010 in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010 in Mary Mother of Hope Parish, St. Mary's Church with The Rev. Victor J. Molka Jr.

Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
