Obituary

Edward L. Williams, 432 W. Shenango St., Sharpsville, passed away unexpectedly at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (8-17-10) in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was 62.

Mr. Williams was born August 30, 1947 in Sharon a son of the late George Charles and Olla May Qualck Williams.

He was a lifelong area resident and a 1965 graduate of Sharon High School. Ed retired as a store room clerk in 2003 from the former Sawhill Tubular Products, Wheatland, where he was employed for 38 years. He then drove taxi for Phil's Taxi, Sharon; and for the past school year was a crossing guard at 7th St. and Milliken Ave. in Sharpsville.

Ed enjoyed hunting, sport shooting, motorcycle riding, collecting baseball hats and gambling. He was a member of the Carpo-Russ Club, Sharon; the Twin State Auto Racing Club; and the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post, and the American Legion, Post 162, both Sharpsville.

His wife, the former Mary Margaret Jackson, whom he married March 15, 1968, passed away August 2, 1995.

Surviving are: a daughter, Michelle Lucas and her husband John; three grandchildren, Samantha, Josh and Page; his companion, Anita Templeton and her sons, James Templeton and his wife Monica and their children, Tiffany, Morgan and Marshall; and Uriah Templeton all of Sharon; a sister, Donna Blackburn and her husband Jim and their daughter Stacey, all Greenville; and a brother, Clifford Williams, Kentucky.

Besides his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by a son, John Williams.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday (8-20-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday (8-20-10) in the funeral home with the Rev. Cindy Swogger, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church, Sharon, officiating.
