Edward J. "Porky" Porterfield of Hermitage passed away Sunday evening, April 15, 2018, in Sharon Regional Medical Center. He was 75.

Mr. Porterfield was born October 12, 1942, in Sharon, a son of Elmer Andrew and Elizabeth (Modrella) Porterfield. He was a 1960 graduate of Sharon High School and served in the Army National Guard. Edward was employed in the warehouse and as a truck driver at the former Golden Dawn Warehouse and the Peter J. Schmidt Co., Sharon for almost 40 years.

He was a longtime member and usher for 40 years at St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.  Edward enjoyed going to the casino, cooking, yard work and gardening, which he was known to have the best marigolds.

Edward is survived by his wife, the former Patricia A. Krispli, whom he married on December 2, 1972; a brother, Thomas W. Porterfield and his wife Ruth, Winterhaven, FL; a niece, Terri Davis and her husband Tom, Athens, GA; a nephew, Scott Porterfield and his wife Sheri, and their children, Grant, Anne, Julie and Emily, Bishop, GA; and a sister-in-law, Paula Krispli.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Ron Krispli.

Patricia would like to thank his friends who always stopped by and those at Panera Bread, for their company and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Calling hours will be 10 until 11:30 a.m. Monday (04/23/2018) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon .

Mass of Christian burial will be noon, Monday in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, 779 Dutch Lane, Hermitage, PA 16148, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, as celebrant.
