Obituary

Edward James McTigue, 131 Woodrow Court, Sharon, passed away at 5:35 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. He was 86.

Mr. McTigue was born October 10, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of John and Mary Billock McTigue.

He attended St .Edward's Parochial Grade School and was a1943 graduate of Ursuline High School, both Youngstown. He attended Youngstown State University and received a certificate in Labor Management from Penn State University.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Ed served aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal, the Pacific Theater Medal and the Good Conduct Medal and was proud ofthe fact that he was in the Tokyo Harbor and witnessed the signing of the PeaceTreaty.

Ed retired in 1990 as an inspector for the former Sawhill Tubular Products, Wheatland, PA where he was employed for 40 years. He was a member of the USWA #5026 and served as its President for three terms.

He was an active member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon wherehe was a money counter, altar server, choir member, and served on parishcouncil and the renovation to the church committee. While his children were in school, he was amember and officer of St. Joseph Parochial Grade School and Kennedy Christian High School P.T.O.s.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Anne Mary McCarthy, whom he married October 20, 1951; two daughters Mary Katherine Frazier and her husband Robert, Olney, MD; and Lee Anne Schuster and her husband Frederick, Mansfield, OH; a son Michael E. McTigue and his wife Tina, Ellwood City, PA; seven grandchildren, Robert L. Frazier and his wife Katherine Elizabeth; KatherineA. Sun and her husband Chan; Scott B. Schuster and his wife Molly, Meghan E. Seevers and her husband John; Rebecca A. Schuster, Stephanie L. Edinger and Zacharey D. Glenn; eleven great-grandchildren; and a twin brother, Joseph A.McTigue, Poland, OH.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Eileen Mary McTigue; a sister Marie Campbell; and three brothers John, Leo and Donald McTigue.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in St. Joseph Church, Sharon, with Rev. Thomas McCarthy, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors rendered by the West Middlesex VFW, the Wheatland American Legion and the Farrell VFW Honor Guard.
